On Thursday morning, October 5th, like most Thursday mornings, I attended a weekly Auburn Hills Morning Optimist Club meeting. Today we were lucky enough to share our meeting with Tamera Eddington, our wonderful and highly reliable Crossing Guard at Will Rogers Elementary. Rain or shine, Tamera is there to make certain that children safely cross to get to school each morning and afternoon, like clockwork.
Tamera embodies the many core values of our workforce. She is certainly committed to “safety” since she is part of the Team that delivers on public safety. Her attendance and reliability address our “excellence” core value. And while there are other core values that she subscribes to daily, the one that stood out to me today as I watched her receive recognition, was “humility”. There was no doubt that she does her job believing in the contribution it makes to our community and not what it does for her. And what greater contribution can there be than making certain our children arrive at school safely.
THANK YOU, Tamera, for the 14 years you have served the Auburn Hills community thus far. We are proud to know you, proud to have you as a member of our staff, and hope that you will remain a valued member of our Team for many more years to come.
