Each summer, the Oakland County Animal Control Census Team conducts a census to ensure compliance with the Michigan State Dog Law of 1919, which requires all dogs aged four months and older to be licensed.
Licensing is crucial for public safety and ensures that all dogs in our community have up-to-date rabies vaccinations
Dog licenses can be purchased online at oaklandmich.docupet.com.
A valid rabies vaccination certificate signed by your veterinarian is required to obtain a dog license.
On June 2, the Oakland County Animal Control Census Team will start visiting homes to ensure compliance with the State Law. Residents with unlicensed dogs will receive courtesy citations and will be given time to comply. Failure to comply within the given period will result in additional citations requiring a court appearance.
