Second Annual Fire Truck Pull Raises Funds for Oakland University Golden Grizzlies Pantry

Posted on: September 26, 2024

On Wednesday, September 25, Oakland University Recreation and Well-Being hosted its Second Annual Fire Truck Pull, an exciting event aimed at supporting the Golden Grizzlies Pantry. The Golden Grizzlies Pantry provides food assistance to students through the Student Emergency Relief Fund and strives to relieve food insecurities so that students can focus on academic success. Each participant was asked to bring a donation for in-demand items that are in greatest need at the pantry to benefit Oakland University Students.

The fundraising event featured teams of five competing to pull an idle fire truck 75 feet by a rope in the fastest amount of time. Each team was given two attempts to achieve the best time. The Auburn Hills Fire Department provided the Fire Truck with Assistant Fire Chief Trevin Robinson and Fire Inspector Jon Toss on site to help facilitate. Participants had to work together and strategize on grip and positioning to successfully budge the 55,000-pound vehicle (the weight equivalent to 30 cows)!

Well done to everyone who participated in this campus community event!
