Statistics tell us that the 2nd leading cause of death for those ages 15-34 is, tragically, suicide. Additionally, that suicide remains a top-ten leading cause of death for people up to the age of 64.

In an effort to combat this, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) will be hosting the Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Saturday, October 14th, 2017, at Stoney Creek Metro Park from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

This event will significantly contribute to the nation-wide effort to raise awareness and financial support for the cause, which allows the AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

The event will entail an optional 1.5 or 3.0-mile walk, cute and friendly puppies, a resource fair, and many related activities following the walk. Registration is open until Friday, October 13th at 12:00 p.m.

The City of Auburn Hills encourages all of our residents and employees to attend this event to support a commendable cause which undoubtedly will benefit our entire community.

More information, registration, and donations for this charitable cause can be found at the following link: https://afsp.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.event&eventID=5020
