Officers Honored During National Police Week
Posted on: May 29, 2025
This May, we had the honor of acknowledging the exceptional work completed by our police department at their annual awards banquet. The banquet is held during National Police Week, established by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, to honor the men and women in law enforcement who risk their own personal safety in service of others.

This year, the American Legion Post Gazette Hill opened their space for police officers and civilian staff to gather with their families to share a meal and be recognized for various outstanding acts of service. The ceremony recognized the exceptional efforts of Auburn Hills officers in the areas of active crime enforcement in high-crime areas, outstanding investigative efforts on criminal complaints, and life-saving efforts where officers put themselves at personal risk of harm for the benefit of those in our community. The awards are determined by a committee of officers who review cases, and are ultimately approved by the Chief of Police.
The awards issued this year include:
- Chief's Award – Issued by the Chief of Police to an agency member who is recognized for their exceptional contributions to the agency.
- Life-Saving Award – Recognizing officers who risked their own safety to save lives in dangerous situations.
- Unit Commendation – Issued to members in recognition of outstanding services by any departmental unit.
- Individual Commendation – Issued to members who have performed efficient and valuable service to the department, in either an individual event or over a series of time.
- Departmental Citation – Issued for outstanding contributions to the police department such as difficult programs, projects, or situations. Such contributions display an extremely high degree of professional excellence.
- Citizen Commendation – This award is issued for individuals or organizations who have supported the department or who have made significant contributions to the case of good law enforcement.
The Auburn Hills Police Department is committed to serving our community with excellence. The love our officers have for their job is evident in the many moments, both big and small, where they go above and beyond. We encourage you to take a moment to thank the officers who keep our community safe and acknowledge the invaluable contributions they make every day.
