Nixle ... What in the World is That?

Driving into work today I knew things were going to be a mess on the roads.

No, it wasn’t my psychic powers! My cell phone just buzzed and I saw a text message which stated … 7:06 a.m. AUBURN HILLS PD: Avoid the SB I-75 / Baldwin area due to an accident blocking the left two lanes.
Yikes! Folks that’s police code for “Freeway is a parking lot. Stay away!” This prompt notification was great because it gave myself and others some time to find alternate routes before hitting the congested area.
Now, I didn’t get this text message just because I work for the City of Auburn Hills. It’s a free service called Nixle that’s open to everyone (sign up by clicking here). No worries you’ll not be bombarded with advertisements because only “authenticated” agencies, like the City of Auburn Hills, can securely distribute public service information via the network.

So, sign up for Nixle. I’m very glad I did.
