If you’re interested in landscaping in an ecological, cost-effective, and aesthetically pleasing manner, now is a good time to start thinking about how to incorporate native plants into your yard this Spring. Native plants are those flowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees that have historically existed in this area.

Landscaping in the likeness of nature brings many benefits. For example, it …
- Requires minimal maintenance and watering once established.
- Draws songbirds, butterflies, and wildlife in search of shelter and food to your yard.
- Attracts insects which prey upon pests, thus decreasing the need for pesticide use.
- Brings you pleasure and peace of mind because you’re landscaping in an ecologically sound manner.
So, if you wish to learn more about restoring the ecology of your home landscape with native trees and shrubs there is a free sustainable landscape workshop on Monday, February 11th. The workshop will be held at the Southfield Public Library at 26000 Evergreen from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Advanced registration is required by calling 248-288-5150. You can view a flyer for the event by clicking here. Check it out!
