Auburn Hills Fire Department Conducts Three-Day Emergency Preparedness Class
Posted on: May 7, 2025
Earlier this spring, the Auburn Hills Fire Department teamed with Oakland County Emergency Management-Homeland Security for a comprehensive three-day FEMA incident command course. The course included 28 participants from the City of Auburn Hills along with several local fire departments and law enforcement agencies, including individuals from Wayne County, Genessee County, Macomb County, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Henry Ford Health System, and even a neighboring assistant city manager. During the training, participants simulated managing multiple large-scale events, assuming various roles in a dynamic, real-world scenario.

The course, following the National Incident Management System framework, provided valuable hands-on experience in a simulated emergency response. Participants gained critical knowledge, including essential procedures, best practices, and tools needed for effective management during large-scale emergencies. Upon completion, participants received a Michigan State Police-Emergency Management & Homeland Security Division Certificate.
This training reflects the City of Auburn Hills' commitment to maintaining a well-prepared and professional emergency management team ready to serve the community in times of crisis.
