Third Annual Fire Truck Pull Brings in Donations for Oakland University Golden Grizzlies Pantry

Posted on: September 30, 2025

Oakland University hosted its third annual Fire Truck Pull on Thursday, September 25 to support the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies Pantry.

The event featured teams of five competing to win the fastest pull of 75 feet. The Auburn Hills Fire Department provided the fire truck with Assistant Fire Chief Trevin Robinson and Fire Inspector Jon Toss on site to help facilitate. This year, they brought the department’s 2022 quint, which features a 78-foot ladder, 1,000 feet of five-inch hose, a 30-gallon foam tank, a 500-gallon water tank, 600 feet of 2.5-inch hose, and 500-700 feet of 1.75-inch hose. It has a pumping capacity of 1,500-2,000 gallons per minute and weighs roughly 60,000 pounds. That is the same weight as five adult African elephants!

The Golden Grizzlies Pantry provides food assistance to students through the Student Emergency Relief Fund and strives to relieve food insecurities so that students can focus on success. Each participant was asked to bring a donation for in-demand items that are in greatest need at the pantry to benefit Oakland University Students.

Well done to everyone who participated in this campus community event!
