Tee Off at Auburn Hills’ Historic Civic Center Park Disc Golf Course
Posted on: July 21, 2025
Tucked away in Civic Center Park, the Auburn Hills municipal disc golf course offers an outdoor experience for disc golf enthusiasts of all abilities. Located at 1827 N. Squirrel Road, the course is easily accessible from the Seyburn Pavilion parking lot, with Hole 1 situated just southeast of the lot. The course is open daily from 7:00 AM to dusk year-round. Download a course map or keep score with the UDisc disc golf app.
Established in 1985, this course holds a special place in the history of Michigan disc golf. Designed by Ed Headrick (#1), the inventor of disc golf, alongside John David (#790) and Steve Lehoczky, the city planner at the time, this course is one of the first of its kind to be installed on Michigan soil. In September 2024, the course received an update, featuring all-new MVP Black Hole Portal baskets, woodchip tee boxes, and new signage.
This past Tuesday, July 15, we celebrated the 40th anniversary of the course with a ribbon cutting, ice cream, and an Ace Race. A special thank you goes out to Matthew Smith, an avid disc golfer who volunteered his time to advise on the upgrades and hosted the Ace Race. Another thank you to MVP Discs and Chick-fil-A for sponsoring the event.

The Disc Golf Course at Civic Center Park is designed to accommodate a variety of skill levels. The course features nine holes, each measuring under 200 feet, making it beginner-friendly while still offering room for growth. Intermediate players can use the course to hone their upshots, taking advantage of the wide-open layout and minor elevation changes. The course design primarily consists of straight shots with minimal obstacles, offering a great opportunity to practice control and accuracy. While the course is relatively short, it is perfect for a lunch break retreat or a quick meet-up with friends.
So, grab your discs, head to Civic Center Park, and enjoy a round of disc golf at one of Michigan’s first disc golf courses.
