Slippery Pete’s BBQ Takes Hold Of BBQ Cook-Off Championship

The City of Auburn Hills held its 7^th Annual State Championship Barbecue Cook-Off on June 19^th and 20^th.  The cook-off, which was part of Auburn Hills Summerfest, was sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society.  Thirty-two teams competed in all four categories; chicken, pork ribs, pork and brisket for the coveted Grand Championship title.  This year the city had four teams from out of state; Illinois, Indiana and Ohio (2).

Congratulations to this year’s Grand Champion, Slippery Pete’s BBQ, from Wadsworth, Ohio.  They will now be considered for participation in the two largest invitational BBQ contests in the world, the American Royal, in Kansas City, and the Jack Daniel’s World Championship BBQ Invitational, in Lynchburg, Tennessee.
