Shiver on the River

On the chilly Saturday afternoon of February 23rd, the Paul H. Young Chapter of Trout Unlimited held their winter fishing classic in Downtown Auburn Hills at Riverside Park.
The event was organized to give their members and other fishing enthusiast a chance to gather with friends and family, hone their skills, swap flies, and share stories.
Those who stopped by enjoyed the ever improving fishing conditions in the Clinton River. Many Trout Unlimited members landed some nice size brown and rainbow trout. Some of the more exciting news items discussed that day was the sighting of a two salmon at Riverside Park this past year, along with a number of trout spawning beds.
The improved fishing conditions and habitat is a result of strong partnerships the City of Auburn Hills has with the four local chapters of Trout Unlimited (Clinton Valley, Challenge, Paul H. Young and Vanguard).
Their membership’s commitment to the protection of the Clinton River was demonstrated that frigid Saturday afternoon when members who were enjoying a little fishing action took some extra time to remove a picnic table from the river.
Honestly, how many people do you know would take the time and effort to remove a picnic table from a flowing river?
This thoughtful act is a true testament to the character and commitment that Trout Unlimited members have for the environment, our local waters, and the quality of life of our community. Thank you!
