Police Department Honors Officers
Posted on: June 18, 2024
Every May, the Auburn Hills Police Department hosts an awards banquet highlighting the exceptional work completed by agency members. The banquet is held during National Police Week, established by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, to honor the men and women in law enforcement who risk their own personal safety in service of others.
Police Officers and civilian staff are encouraged to bring their families, enjoy dinner and fellowship, and be publicly recognized for cases or assignments that meet award criteria. The Awards Committee comprises members of the police department, who review cases and submissions and vote on an appropriate award designation as they see fit, ultimately approved by the Chief of Police.

This year, multiple awards were issued, varying in incident type, personnel response, and severity. Police Officers were recognized for tasks such as active crime enforcement in high-crime areas, outstanding investigative efforts on criminal complaints, life-saving efforts where officers put themselves at personal risk of harm for the benefit of those in our community, and other various outstanding acts of service.
The awards issued this year were:
- Unit Commendation
- Individual Commendation
- Life-Saving Award
- Departmental Citation
- Chief’s Award
The members of the Auburn Hills Police Department do not provide excellent service in pursuit of recognition, however, the awards banquet ensures that staff is recognized and appreciated for their hard work.
