Progress is good! The Pontiac Silverdome’s billboard sign along I-75 is proposed to be replaced with a new state-of-the art LED digital display.
What? The Silverdome’s located in the City of Pontiac, right?
Well, yes it is … but back in 1994 the former Pontiac Stadium Building Authority received approval and constructed an “off-site” billboard in Auburn Hills on the east side of I-75, just south of Auburn Road.
That sign is now looking pretty old and tired, so the Silverdome’s new owner is working with Vann Advertising, based in Ontario, Canada, to replace it with much more sophisticated digital technology. The total investment is estimated at $650,000.
The Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing regarding the proposal on Tuesday, January 29th at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall. If all goes well, Vann Advertising plans to install the new sign by mid-April.
