Yesterday, we gathered on the campus of Baker College to hear Mayor Kevin McDaniel’s State of the Community address. The Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce hosted this annual event which brings civic and business leaders together to reflect on the accomplishments of the past year and to review plans for the future. As always, the Mayor delivered a dynamic speech.
Mayor McDaniel kicked off the morning by announcing that the City will officially break ground on the highly anticipated amphitheater and splash pad project that will begin construction this May at Riverside Park in Downtown Auburn Hills. The project has been envisioned in the City’s master plan since 1993. Residents and guests will be able to experience concerts, plays, and other outdoor performances and events at this exciting new venue.
The Mayor also recapped many of the development projects that were approved by the City Council in 2017, which totaled over $100 million in private investment and brought hundreds of jobs to the community. Last year was filled with ribbon cuttings, bulldozers, cranes, and construction crews working on sites scattered throughout our town. It was a record year! However, this year is anticipated to be even more successful for Auburn Hills.
So, cheers to a happy and prosperous 2018!
