Yesterday, the Auburn Hills Planning Commission celebrated a very nice accomplishment.
The City’s Water Resources Coordinator Shawn Keenan recently obtained AICP status as a professional community planner.
What is AICP? The American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is the professional institute of the American Planning Association (APA). Membership in AICP is the nationally recognized means of attesting to an individual’s professional competence and ethics in the field of planning. Thus, AICP certification is the “gold standard” or mark of a professional planner.
Now, Shawn is permitted to place the designation “AICP” after his name on reports and legal notices to indicate his mastery of the principles, skills, knowledge, and experience determined to be essential for a professional planner. Membership requirements include a combination of education and professional planning experience and a passing score on the rigorous AICP comprehensive examination.
Congrats Shawn for continuing to grow in your career and adding value to our organization.
