Experience Art on the Clinton River Trail with Inside|Out
Posted on: June 7, 2024

Imagine strolling along the Clinton River Trail and stumbling upon a masterpiece. Thanks to the DIA Inside|Out program, there are two pieces now on display on the Auburn Hills stretch of the Clinton River Trail. Book Shop: Hebrew Books, Holy Day Books, a 1953 work by American artist Ben Shahn is located west of Juniper Street, just behind Twist ‘N Dip. A second piece, Mother and Child, painted in 1962 by Nigerian Artist Solomon Irein Wangboje, is located west of South Squirrel Road.

Now in its 15th year, the Inside|Out program brings high-quality reproductions of artworks from the DIA’s collection to outdoor venues throughout the tri-county area to create unique opportunities to engage with art for residents across Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.
“This special program is all about making art accessible for tri-county residents,” said Julie McFarland, Executive Director of Public Affairs and Engagement at the DIA. “We’re thrilled to bring Inside|Out to the Clinton River Trail and invite residents to explore, discover, and appreciate the beauty of these artworks in their own backyard.” Inside|Out caters to diverse audiences, whether seasoned art enthusiasts or families seeking engaging and free recreational activities. Inside|Out is made possible by Tri-County millage support. To learn more about Inside|Out 2024 and stay updated on upcoming events and locations, visit dia.org/InsideOut2024.
