Yesterday, it was announced that AM General, LLC plans to soon move its engineering and advanced technology and prototype development operations to the City of Auburn Hills.
AM General is a world leader in the design, engineering, manufacturing, and support of Light Tactical Vehicles. Their iconic High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV or Humvee®) serves the military and homeland security.
City Manager Tom Tanghe delivered remarks about AM General’s investment to the Michigan Strategic Fund Board in support of this project, which will be located 1399 Pacific Drive. He noted that adding a defense-based company to the ranks of our corporate community will be a tremendous asset.
This decision by AM General represents an investment of nearly $10 million and the creation of 55 new jobs in Auburn Hills. Michigan’s defense industry supports 105,000 jobs and represents an $8 billion economic impact on the state’s economy.
We look forward to welcoming AM General to our community.
