Celebrate National Trails Day and the Clinton River Trail’s 20th Anniversary with Auburn Hills

Posted on: May 31, 2024

National Trails Day is celebrated annually on the first Saturday of June and recognizes the vast network of trails that wind through federal, state, and local public land, offering a gateway to outdoor adventure and natural beauty.

In case you haven’t heard, this year, the City of Auburn Hills is joining the nationwide celebration by commemorating 20 years of the Clinton River Trail. On June 1st, Mayor Marzolf and city leaders will gather with the Friends of the Clinton River Trail and residents to honor the trail’s anniversary.

The event will begin where the trail intersects the corner of Primary Street and Grey Road in Downtown Auburn Hills. After a few remarks, cyclists can pedal westward to the Opdyke trailhead for a 2.99-mile round trip, while walkers and joggers can venture east toward the Adams trailhead for a leisurely 1.32-mile round trip. Following the trail exploration, attendees will gather for light refreshments and giveaways, courtesy of the Downtown Development Authority. So, whether you’re a seasoned trailblazer or a newcomer to the world of hiking and biking, grab your gear and join the festivities on June 1st.
