Twice each year, the Auburn Hills Senior Services Department plans and implements the Rake & Run initiative for our Auburn Hills senior citizens. As part of the program, volunteers head to participating seniors’ homes on a date of their choice for a fall and spring clean-up. In recent years, the program has drawn over a hundred volunteers and has consistently helped, and brought smiles to many of our Auburn Hills seniors.
The fall 2017 Rake & Run was no exception to the outpouring of community pride. Thanks to Fiat Chrysler Automotive, Nexteer Automotive, St. John Fisher Church, a young Girl Scout troop, OU Ballroom Dance Club, OU Golden Key, and Auburn Hills City Manager’s Office for their participation in the Fall 2017 Rake & Run. Because of these groups, we drew 124 volunteers, filled up 281 leaf bags, and made 17 senior citizens’ yards look nice and tidy!
There are two Rake & Run events each year: one in the spring and one in the fall. Groups interested in participating in the upcoming 2018 Spring Rake & Run should contact the Community Center at 248-370-9353 and ask for Zack Thomas, Management Assistant.
