Voting Options

Registered voters in Michigan now have three different options to vote in upcoming elections:

Early Voting: Early voting is similar to how you would vote at your precinct on Election Day but provides flexibility and convenience. Beginning on the second Saturday before the election and ending on the Sunday before, visit the Public Safety Community Room at 1899 North Squirrel Road. Early voting hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM daily, except for the Thursday before the election when it’s from noon to 8:00 PM.

Absentee Voting: Absentee voting offers the freedom to vote from the comfort of your own home. Apply for an absentee ballot online at michigan.gov/vote or visit the City Clerk’s Office. Complete your ballot, place it in the secrecy sleeve. Use the purple ballot return envelope to send it back. Don’t forget to sign the back of the purple envelope! Once your absentee ballot is ready, return it using the prepaid postage envelope or drop it off at one of our convenient drop box locations. You’ll find two inside City Hall, two outside City Hall at 1827 North Squirrel Road, and one in the parking lot at the Department of Public Works Facility at 1500 Brown Road.

Your absentee ballot will be processed and tabulated by dedicated election inspectors at the Absentee Voter Counting Board on Election Day. You can also choose to return your ballot to the early voting site during the nine-day early voting period or return your ballot to the precinct on Election Day before 8:00 PM, and you can personally insert it into the tabulator.

In-Precinct Voting on Election Day: If you prefer the traditional voting experience, you can cast your ballot at your designated precinct on Election Day. Locate your precinct at michigan.gov/vote. Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Be prepared for lines and bring a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, or come ready to sign an affidavit.
