Shop with a Cop Event Brings Holiday Cheer to Families in Need

On Tuesday, December 10, the Auburn Hills and Bloomfield Township Police Departments came together with local youth to make this holiday season a little brighter through their annual Shop with a Cop event. Officers and volunteers from both departments teamed up with children and families from Avondale Youth Assistance and Pontiac Youth Assistance to spread some holiday cheer and provide gifts for loved ones.
Each participant received a $250 Meijer gift card to shop for Christmas presents for their family members. Officers worked one-on-one with the youth, helping them select thoughtful gifts and make the holiday season extra special. The funds that make this event possible are donations from Meijer and local businesses. The Auburn Hills Police Department greatly appreciates their assistance because the event would not be possible without it.
The families that participated are all connected to Avondale Youth Assistance and Pontiac Youth Assistance, two organizations dedicated to strengthening youth and families in the community.

In addition, the Auburn Hills and Bloomfield Township Police Departments hosted a special donation drive. Unwrapped gifts were collected in front of the store to benefit Haven, a nonprofit organization that provides services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Oakland County. The community's generous donations will help make the holidays brighter for those in need.
