FANUC America Expands Operations with New West Campus in Auburn Hills

There are robots for just about everything these days. As someone who loves history and inventions, I wondered when the idea for the first robot came about.  I was shocked to learn that it stretched back to Ancient Egypt. While the technology to build robots, as we might recognize them today, was centuries away from being invented, the idea of automation was alive as early as 3000 BC.

Today, we celebrated the completion of FANUC America’s new $100 Million Robotics and Automation Campus in Auburn Hills. This new 650,000-square-foot West Campus facility, built on 67 acres and once the home of Thomas M. Cooley Law School, will support and advance industrial automation in North America.  Advanced automation requires new skills, and the centerpiece of the West Campus will be FANUC’s Customer Training Academy. FANUC is renovating the former law school on the site to enhance learner-to-instructor interactions. The Academy will feature expanded classroom capacities and increased laboratory space for hands-on training experiences. In addition to training facilities, the new campus houses state-of-the-art manufacturing, engineering, and research and development facilities.

Auburn Hills continues to be grateful that FANUC has again chosen to expand its already impressive presence in Auburn Hills.  FANUC America’s expansion is a tremendous milestone for Auburn Hills.  This strategic investment strengthens our local economy and highlights our city’s role as a technological innovation and workforce development leader.  Completing this new West Campus makes Auburn Hills home to the largest robotics footprint in the United States.
