Stadium Party Store has submitted an application to the City of Auburn Hills to expand its operations with a proposed addition of a six-pump gas station.
Plans call for the demolition of the former Lucas Coney Island Restaurant, located at 2008 N. Opdyke Road, to make room for the gas pumps and canopy structure. Lucas has been closed since August 12, 2016 due to a fire that caused extensive smoke damage to the building.
For those who enjoyed eating at Lucas, there’s no need to worry – they’re not going far. The restaurant plans to move to the shopping center right next door.
In addition to drawing more traffic to both Stadium Party Store and the shopping center, the redevelopment of the site will provide better visibility of each business for passing motorists.
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in May 2017 with expected completion in July 2017. The overall investment is estimated at $400,000.
Those interested in learning more about this proposal are encouraged to attend the Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 15th at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall. A final decision on the application is anticipated to be made by the City Council on Monday, March 27th.
