Grass Cutting Season Coming To A Close

Well, the last cut list has been sent to our contractor and the City’s Weed Abatement season officially ends this Wednesday, October 15th when the ordinance time span expires.  Whew!

This year’s program has been different in many ways.  For the first time in years the City has used a single contractor for both large, rough cutting and residential mowing.  The other major difference from past years has been the high level of compliance from property owners.

The stats aren’t all in yet but the compliance level is amazing.  Not counting the few cuts in October (due to the cooler weather) our contractor cut 87 properties this year.  Naturally, many were repeats.  But what’s amazing is that over twice that many property owners were advised and complied.  It led to a compliance rate of 68%.

Some explanations for the high rate of compliance might be that some homeowners had been charged for cuts in previous years and did not want the extra expense.  Another reason is the great reduction in vacant homes within the City.

But one cannot discount the “pride of place” and the cooperative attitudes of Auburn Hills’ citizens.  Excellent job!
