Legend Valve saw what few could see.
This company had a vision of turning the former Wal-Mart store at 300 N. Opdyke, which had been left to waste away, into a showplace. In early 2011, they approached the City about renovating the vacant retail store into their corporate headquarters and distribution center. The City Council asked, “How fast can you do it?” The rest is history.
Today, they’re growing leaps and bounds in their new space because they serve as “the warehouse” for a vast network of plumbing supply wholesalers. They can hold a lot of product within their 131,000 sq. ft. facility and have plenty of room to expand on their property. As wholesalers focus on reducing costs, Legend Valve guarantees shipment of its products within 24-hours, so that customers can keep their inventories low and not maintain much storage space at their businesses. Legend Valve has an error-free transaction policy, no restocking fees, and accepts any size order. They’re kind of like an Amazon service for plumbing wholesalers, except they discount their prices if they do not deliver as promised.
As we sat in Legend Valve’s beautiful conference room, which used to be the Wal-Mart photo center, and listened to them talk about their company’s future plans for growth, our team couldn’t help but appreciate their entrepreneurial spirit.
It’s businesses like Legend Valve that make the City of Auburn Hills a strong and prosperous community.
