We’re going to learn something new … something very informative.
The City Council has proactively asked a couple of experts in the field of oil and gas drilling to provide an introductory class on the subject at their workshop tonight. The hour and a half session will start at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber.
In recent years, the exploration of oil and gas has become increasingly active in Michigan and developers are beginning to request permission to drill in Auburn Hills and our neighboring communities. Since it’s so new to us, there are a lot of questions and many unknowns.

As a note, we have heard that some from the public may wish to speak at this workshop. Please keep in mind that this meeting is open to the public, but not a public hearing. So, all are encouraged to attend, but the primary purpose of the meeting is for the Council to learn from and ask questions of the experts.
The Council desires to make the best decisions possible for our community. They wish to become informed, which is always a good first step when dealing with a complicated issue.
Sounds like smart governance and strong leadership, which is the Auburn Hills’ way of doing things.
