Public Utilities FAQ
Utility bills are mailed monthly and usually received by the 20th. They are due on the 15th of each month. If the 15th falls on a holiday or weekend, the due date is extended to the next business day.
Payments can be made by cash, check, or credit/debit card. Mail or drop off payments at City Hall. After hours, use the drop-box outside the Treasurer’s office. You can also pay online with a credit card or e-check.
Bills are due on the 15th of each month. If the 15th is a holiday or weekend, payment is due the next business day. A 3% penalty is applied if not paid on time. Not receiving a bill does not waive the penalty.
A 3% compounding penalty is applied for late payments per City Ordinance No. 634, Section 74-143.
The meter is typically located in the basement, crawl space, or utility room.
The plastic box contains a remote reading device linked to your indoor meter. This allows monthly readings without the need for in-person visits.
Check for an “A” after the Previous Read and Current Read numbers on your bill. You can also verify by checking your meter’s odometer. See "How to Read Your Water Meter" for details.
