Regional Youth Academy
Get an in-depth look into the world of policing!
The Regional Youth Academy is a coordinated effort among police departments, including the City of Auburn Hills, the City of Birmingham, Bloomfield Township, the City of Rochester, the City of West Bloomfield, and the Bloomfield Township Fire Department. The Regional Youth Academy takes place annually in June.
Students ages 14-18 years old will get to experience many aspects of law enforcement, including a hands-on look at police equipment, tactics, investigations, criminal law and procedure, basic first aid, CPR certification, firearms safety, and scenario-based training. There is no cost to participate! Uniform T-shirts and lunch will be provided to attendees.
Who can participate?
Any current high school student (also applies to seniors who just graduated) age 14-18 who lives in or attends high school in Auburn Hills, Rochester, Bloomfield Township, Birmingham, or West Bloomfield or has a parent who lives, works or goes to school in Auburn Hills, Rochester, Bloomfield Township, or Birmingham, or West Bloomfield.
- Must possess good moral character, a good work ethic and demonstrate their honesty and trustworthiness
- Must be in good legal standing with an acceptable legal history
- Must authorize the respective participating Police Departments and its agents to utilize the LEIN/NCIC system to conduct a thorough background check
