Municipal Properties
The facilities team, consisting of nine full-time employees, is responsible for managing and maintaining a diverse portfolio of 44 buildings across various locations. These buildings range from administrative offices like City Hall to specialized facilities such as fire stations, a golf course, and recreational areas. The team provides a comprehensive array of core services to ensure the smooth operation of these facilities, including electrical and lighting services, generator backup, plumbing, climate control, communication services, custodial services, floor and linen service, spray services, window washing, appliance repair, fire prevention, and building access services. The scope of their work varies across buildings, with some services being provided to all 44 buildings while others are tailored to specific facility needs.
In addition to these core services, the team also offers a range of supporting services that contribute to the overall functionality and aesthetics of the facilities. These include equipment inspection and maintenance, interior design, event support, painting and staining, flooring installation and repair, furniture repair, hazardous waste disposal, recycling, masonry repair, pest removal, roof system maintenance, overhead door repair, building signage management, construction inspections, and project management services. This comprehensive approach to facility management demonstrates the team's commitment to maintaining safe, efficient, and well-functioning environments across all properties.
The facilities team's work aligns with key principles of facility maintenance and management, including preventive and corrective maintenance, energy management, safety and compliance, space management, asset tracking, sustainability practices, vendor coordination, emergency preparedness, technology integration, budget management, and focus on occupant experience. By addressing these various aspects, the nine-person team ensures that the facilities meet the needs and expectations of their users while also adhering to regulatory requirements and operational efficiency standards. Their work is crucial in extending the lifespan of building systems, optimizing resource usage, and creating comfortable, productive environments for all occupants.
Forestry Operations
The City of Auburn Hills is proud to be a Tree City USA member. This national recognition demonstrates our commitment to the importance of trees in our community. Municipal Grounds is responsible for thousands of trees in our public parks and along City roadways. Services provided on trees in those public areas include inspections, trimming, removals, and stump grinding. Free tree replacements are available for any viable planting location within the City Right-of-Way.
