Election Inspectors

General Qualifications

  • Must be a qualified and registered elector of the State of Michigan.
  • Must be 18 years of age. (A person who is 16 or 17 years of age may be appointed with special conditions.)
  • Must be able to work be able to work from 6:00 AM to approximately 10:00 PM on Election Day.
  • Must have transportation to and from polling location.
  • Must have a good clerical ability to perform duties.
  • Must have computer experience.
  • Must attend a mandatory training class prior to working their first election.

Military & Overseas Civilian Voters

State and federal laws make it easy for military and overseas civilian voters to register and participate in elections.

Eligible voters can download the absentee ballot request form by clicking here. The request form must then be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office.

NOTE: Military and Overseas Civilian Voters can receive their ballot by email or fax to speed the voting process. (The voted ballot must be returned by mail for security purposes.)

Political Signs

Summary Rules

  • Political signs when pertaining to a public election shall be located only on private property with the property owner's consent. Such signs shall be removed not later than seven (7) days after the election.
  • Political signs shall not be placed within road right-of-ways. Roadsides and boulevard islands must be free of obstacles and hazards to ensure safe travel and the efficient maintenance of roadways and utilities.
  • Political signs shall not be placed on City properties.
  • Political signs shall not be placed as to cause a vision obstruction for pedestrians, cyclists, or motorists.

The Auburn Hills Police Department and Community Development Department are authorized by law to remove any sign in violation of the City’s ordinances.  Contact Code Enforcement with any questions - 248-364-6935.

Candidate Information

The City Election (to elect City Council & Library Board Members) will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2027.

Individuals seeking office for City Council or Library Board must meet the criteria listed in the table below.  Candidate information packets, containing the petition forms, will be available at the City Clerk’s Office beginning on January 25, 2027.  The deadline to file petitions to become a candidate for City Council or Library Board is 4:00PM on Tuesday, July 20, 2027.

City Council

  • 21 years of age
  • A resident of the City for at least one year
  • A qualified elector of the City
  • Must obtain not less than 50 nor more than 75 valid signatures of registered voters in the City.
