Michigan Department of Health and Human Services EMS Workforce Grant
Auburn Hills, MIJanuary 30, 2023— The Auburn Hills Fire Department is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an MDHHS EMS Workforce Grant in the amount of $170,145. The grant is sponsored by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and is intended to provide agencies with funding to cover the cost of tuition, supplies, and wages of personnel to attend paramedic training programs.

There is a national shortage of Paramedics that has impacted fire departments, hospitals, and private ambulance companies ability to adequately staff ambulances to meet the needs of their communities. Agencies have overcome this difficulty with mutual aid agreements; however, this grant allows Auburn Hills Fire Department personnel to attend the costly and time consuming training that will allow them to attain their paramedic license. The increase in licensed paramedics will support more ambulances on the roads. The community will experience improved service delivery and more access to advanced life support emergency care.

The Auburn Hills Fire Department is proud to be one of the awarded agencies in the first round of this important funding opportunity.
