Fire Department Media Release: Vehicle Fire 204 Juniper

Monday, December 30, 2019

At 6:54 a.m. Monday morning the Auburn Hills Fire Department was dispatched to the 200 block of Juniper Avenue for a reported vehicle fire with wires down over the vehicle.

Fire personnel arrived to find that a large tree had fallen on high voltage electrical lines which brought the lines down over a parked vehicle. The lines were energized and subsequently energized the vehicle. DTE was contacted and responded.

Fire personnel stood by to protect exposures and secure the area while waiting for DTE’s arrival. AHPD assisted with blocking roads and evacuating the residents. Due to the high voltage of the lines, fire personnel were unable to extinguish the vehicle fire until DTE shut down the power. Once the electricity was shut down, the fire was extinguished without further incident.
