Auburn Hills, MI—May 7, 2018—The City of Auburn Hills, a dynamic community committed to innovation and growth, announces the groundbreaking for its new amphitheater and children’s splash pad at Riverside Park in Downtown Auburn Hills. The ceremony will take place on Friday, May 11, 2018, at 2:00 p.m.

“We are absolutely thrilled that after more than two years of fundraising efforts we can officially start the construction of the amphitheater and splash pad”, said Mayor Kevin McDaniel. "City Council is extremely excited for our residents to be able to enjoy this incredible asset and we want to thank everyone who helped support this important community project”, added Mayor McDaniel.

In addition to the funds donated by residents and corporations to the Auburn Hills Community Foundation for this project, funds were also contributed by the city’s Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA).

According to Chairman Patrick Hassett of the TIFA Board, “The Auburn Hills Tax Increment Finance Authority is proud to join with individual and business donors in the construction of our new downtown amphitheater and children’s splash pad. Our beautiful Riverside Park will become an even greater asset to our citizens and merchants alike. Music transcends all language and culture. It is a gift which all of our citizens will enjoy. We thank all of those who worked so hard to bring this wonderful concept to fruition”.

One of the new functions of the amphitheater will be outdoor performances. Using the Clinton River as a backdrop, the main stage will be a spectacular setting for concerts, plays, and other arts and community events. The amphitheater space will also be available to rent for special events.
