Fatal Crash: NB I-75 at Walton Blvd.

Mr. Ernest Carter, 55 years old from Belleville, MI has been identified as the victim killed in a crash on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at about 4:45 am on NB I-75 at Walton Blvd.  Mr. Carter was driving a semi-truck with trailer and pulled off onto the right shoulder to check the tail lights on the trailer.  He was struck and killed by a vehicle as he was standing alongside the trailer near the fog line.  The driver of the car left the scene without stopping to report the incident.

Evidence collected at the scene of the crash revealed that the suspect vehicle is a silver 2013 Ford Focus Titanium edition.  The vehicle sustained damage to the front passenger side grill and passenger side mirror.  The photo below is a likeness of this vehicle:

Investigators from the South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team (SOCCIT) comprised of crash investigators from Auburn Hills, Troy and Bloomfield Township Police Departments are investigating the crash. 

The Auburn Hills Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and/or driver involved in this crash.  Anyone who may have information related to the crash is asked to call the Auburn Hills Police Department at 248-370-9444.
