LITTLE HIKERS (AGES 0 to 6):

This program is designed for parents to take a guided walk
with their child, learn about the outdoors and learn ways to
introduce children to the natural world around them. Up to
age 6 with an adult.

NATURE STORY TIME (AGES 0 to 6):
Come and listen to a story and have some fun with nature at
the Hawk Woods Park and Campground! Nature Story time
includes a story, craft and time outdoors engaging in ageappropriate activities. Up to age 6 with an adult.

NATURE ART:
Nature is the ultimate inspiration your child needs to get that
instant spark of creativity. We will be using natural materials
like acorns, bark, dirt, leaves, sticks and pinecones to make
some amazing nature inspired art. The art your child creates
will be left onsite for all Hawk Woods visitors to enjoy.

HERO HIKES:
Come spend time in nature with heroes from our local
community. Feel free to dress up as your favorite hero, even if
it means having to wear your underwear on the outside of your
pants. This program will include a hike and hero themed craft.

NATURE SUMMER CAMP:
Children in grades 1st – 5th are welcome to spend a week
of their Summer Vacation engaging in a variety of ageappropriate nature activities designed to create a life-long
love of nature. Activities will include hikes, crafts and games.
Bring a water bottle and nut-free snack (non-refrigerated)
each day.

EARTH DAY SERVICE PROJECT (OPEN TO ALL):
Come celebrate Earth Day with us at the Hawk Woods Lodge
and Campground! We will spend some time helping to make
the Earth a better place. This service project will include a
natural area clean up and provided lunch for all those who
are interested. (Free)

FIRE BUILDING (6 to 12):
Can you create and maintain a campfire using only one
match and piece of paper? Join us as we venture into the
forest to collect tinder, kindling and firewood. Using these
materials, we will experiment with different types and styles
of campfires. We will conclude the program with a bonfire
and s’mores.

There is nothing kids like more than building a fort. Come join

Insects are some of the most amazing creatures! In this

FRIENDSHIP ROCKS (6 to 12):
Have you ever seen a friendship rock at the park? Friendship
rocks are painted rocks or stones done by people with
inspirational images or sayings with the intention of spreading
kindness around the world. Join us in creating friendship
rocks and spreading kindness all over the world.

BUGS ON WHEELS
Is your child a bug enthusiast? Come see Bugs on Wheels
as Nadia aka “The Bug Lady” brings fascinating creatures
such as tarantulas, scorpions, desert beetles, the world’s
largest millipede, and more, for you to see! This educational
experience gives children and adults alike the chance to see
bugs up close and personal while giving them the opportunity
to hold or touch some of them! This will be an experience
you won’t soon forget!

REPTARIUM:
Does your child love reptiles? Join an animal educator from

GEOCACHING  CHALLENGE
A new geocaching challenge has been put in place in the Hawk Woods Nature Center located at 3799 Bald Mountain Road. Geocaching is a game played in the outdoors utilizing a handheld GPS or a smartphone with a geocaching app. The Challenge features six geocaches specifically designed for families and those new to geocaching.
