When are property taxes mailed and when are they due?
Property Tax Bills are mailed twice each year: July 1 and December 1 Summer Taxes are payable from July 1 through the September due date without interest. (For 2008 Taxes the date is September 12th.)  Winter Taxes are payable from December 1 through the February due date without penalty. (For the 2008 Winter Taxes the date is February 13th.)
If  you  do  not  receive  your  tax  bill,  please call the Treasurer’s Office at 248-370-9420 and a copy of your bill will be mailed to you or may be obtained in the IS Property & Land Search link
 
To avoid late penalties, please allow sufficient time for mailing, as postmarks are not accepted.
 
How is the amount of my tax determined?
Tax amounts are calculated by multiplying the Taxable Value of a parcel by the millage rate of each taxing unit.
 
Where do I pay Delinquent Tax Payments?
As of March 1, all delinquent property taxes are payable only to the Oakland County Treasurer, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, Michigan  48341.    For payments made in the month of March a revised statement must be obtained from the City of Auburn Hills Treasurers Office and submitted with your payment to the County Treasurer’s Office.  To contact the Oakland County Treasurer’s Office call (248) 858-0611.
 
When is my water/sewer bill due?
All water/sewer bills are due on the 15th of each month.  All payments made after the 15th will have a 10% late fee applied.
 
What are the office hours?
Our offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
 
How can I make a payment after hours?
The City has two drop boxes conveniently located in front of City Hall.
Payments may be made using either of the two drop boxes at the City Hall Administration Building parking lot at 1827 N. Squirrel Road.   Payments must be received in the drop box BEFORE the start of the next business day to be included in the business transactions for the prior day.
 
How do I get a stamped receipt if I use the drop box?
Enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope with your payment, and you will be mailed a stamped receipt.

How do I make a Payment?
Checks

Make checks payable to the City of Auburn Hills.  Please write your Parcel Identification Number and your Phone Number on your check for reference. Payment will be recorded on the date received - not the date it is mailed or the date the check is written. Postmarks will not be accepted.
Checks are accepted only as a conditional payment. If not honored by the bank, tax is unpaid and subject to penalties and/or interest. The City will assess a $35.00 fee each time a check is returned to us unpaid.   All checks must have a name and address printed on the front of the check.
 
To Pay by Mail

Make checks payable to the City of Auburn Hills and mail to: City of Auburn Hills Treasurers Office, 1827 North Squirrel Road, Auburn Hills, Michigan  48326.   Return remittance copy along with your check.  Do not include tax payments with any other payments and do not send cash. If a receipted copy is desired, you must enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your check.

To Pay in Person
Bring the remittance copy of your tax with you to the Treasurer's Office along with payment. There are also two (2) after hours drop boxes available for after hours payments.
Pay Property Tax Online 
For your convenience taxes will be payable with a credit card by phone or online through Official Payments.  A convenience fee will be imposed for their service.  Payments can still be made by check, cash or money order in person or by mail to the City Treasurer.

How do I make Name or Address Changes on my taxes?
Change of name and/or address should be promptly reported to the Auburn Hills Assessor’s Office.   If you have sold your property, and received a tax statement in error, please forward the statement to the new owner or return it to the Treasurer's Office with correction(s) of name and/or address. 
 
How do I change my name or address on my water bill?
Contact the Utility Billing Department at 248-370-9340.
