WHY DO GOOD TRIPS AND PROGRAMS GET CANCELLED?
Nothing kills a good program or trip faster than everyone waiting until the last minute to register. Registration deadlines are very important for planning purposes, for Community Center staff and for the travel companies, instructors or speakers. If there are not enough registered participants by the deadline, the class or trip will have to be cancelled.  So please……Register Early!!!!  Thank you.  

 

CALLING ALL VETERANS
Come out on the 4th Tuesday morning of the month, sit down with a cup of coff ee and a pastry and talk with fellow veterans. Also, you will have an opport unity to listen to presenters, ask questions and talk with experts who will share resources and information regarding VA benefits and other noteworthy topics.

KNITTING FOR A CAUSE
Our knitting group is working with the Pediatric department at Crittenton Ascension Hospital making hats for preemies and hand puppets for their siblings. Get together with other knitters, learn or develop the skills of hand knitting or hand crocheting, meet new people and also make a diff erence in the life of a child.

the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Just what you have been waiting for! Our “Themed cooking classes” are beginning! HAND-BUILT + WHEEL THROWING POTTERY

HOT WAX PAINTING MIXED MEDIA ART
Encaustic painting is easy for beginners to grasp and more experienced students to build upon. Each 2-day workshop provides you with time to explore your creativity with surprising and satisfying results. You’ll complete several colorful, luminous panels, ready to gift or hang on your wall. Encaustic is applying heated beeswax and pigments to wood panels using brushes and various layering techniques, including collage, carving, scraping, graffito and embedding objects, such as dried flowers, paper, string, and other found materials. Classes are instructed by visual artist Anne Kneller.

BASKET MAKING WITH ROBIN BRUENING
Enjoy learning how to create a simple but festive basket 
for the Easter holiday or to just use to display some of your most treasured items. Baskets are made of paper bags & crepe paper. Cloth to line basket will be furnished by Robin or if you want to use specific material please bring it to class. Fees includes all supplies.

OPEN WOODSHOP
The Woodshop will be open for small repairs and projects.  We have a variety of tools and supplies that you are able to utilize to complete your project. Completion of the Woodshop Safety Training program is required to participate in Open Woodshop.

WOODSHOP CERTIFICATION
Do you already have extensive experience working with woodshop power tools? Register for this class and you will be contacted by one of our woodshop instructors for a one-on-one session. This one-hour woodshop certification test includes both written and practical sessions to allow you to demonstrate your skills and become immediately certified to take advantage of open woodshop access. #555554

 

BUILD A FABULOUS FOOT STOOL
Learn to use nearly every tool in the shop while building a fabulous and sturdy foot stool by hand! Expert woodworkers will lead and instruct for every step of the way. Class includes safety cert ification so you can come back and use the woodshop for your future projects.  Limited to 5 students.

PEN TURNING
Looking for a fun and rewarding introductory wood turning experience? Turning wooden pens on a lathe is a great way to learn about the beautiful and exciting world of wood turning. You’ll see your project take shape and by the end of the class you’ll have a nice pen that’s ready to use or share as a gift . You’ll get plenty of individual att ention with a small class size. Prerequisite: Must have taken Build a Foot Stool prior to registering for this class.

ARE YOUR ELECTRONIC GADGETS OUTSMARTING YOU?
This class is designed to help seniors become more comfort able in working with the applications on laptops, tablets, and cellphones. Bring your device and get to know about features that are available and how to navigate comfortably. A community volunteer will be available to assist you. Appointments accepted but walk-ins welcome.
