Auburn Hills/Avondale Winter Youth Basketball Leagues
This outstanding league starts in January! Former Avondale Varisty Coach Todd Henderson, Play 4 Fun Sports and Auburn Hills Parks and Recreation present this popular instructional basketball league which is focused on fundamentals, sportsmanship, teamwork, equal playing time, and FUN! Boys and girls will develop their basketball skills through practices and weekly games.  Each team will have one practice a week on Monday or Wednesday, to continually focus on developing players’ skills and understanding of the game!  The first two weeks will be focused on skill development and assessing players’ abilities.  After the first 2 weeks, players will be divided into teams and play in officiated games each Saturday. Volunteer coaches are needed!

Children will learn the basic principles of ballet (plie, tendu, arabesque, sauté, jumping, bouree/tip toes, making a circle by holding hands) using fun and creative methods.  Some creative movement methods and props supplement the class and keep the children interested and moving.  Children will meet new friends, learn to work together in a group, learn to share, and increase motor skills while having fun.  Ages 19-35 months.  Parents must be present during class.

This is a great program for teens to learn about money and how to handle it wisely with the staff from Cornerstone Community Financial.  There will be hands on activities tailored to each group with a focus on the value of money, banking, interest, savings, checking accounts, loans, credit cards, sales tax, smart shopping, discounts, sales and tips.  Teens ages 13-17.

This is a great way for kids to release their creative energy using clay.  Children will learn a variety of hand building techniques including coil and slab construction to create pots and sculptures.  You will bring home 3 projects.  Ages 8+ .

The Chess Club is designed for girls and boys grades 3-8.  Students will be taught the following:  how the pieces move and capture, how to open, castling, en passant, basic tactics, endgame strategies, how to get checkmate, tournament rules, how to use a chess clock, and chess notation.  Instructor:  Chantelle Mitchell, Chess Coach & United States Chess Federation Club Tournament Director.

We have six log cabins with four bunks in each cabin available for rental for your family or group.  Overnight camping with outdoor hikes and bonfires close to home at reasonable rates are yours for the asking.  The campground will be closing early this year (September) due to campground renovations.
