The City of Auburn Hills announces that industrial jobs in Auburn Hills increased by 12.9% over the past twelve months, as reported in the 2012 Michigan Manufacturers Directory®. Manufacturers’ News, Inc. (MNI), the Evanston, IL-based publisher that surveys manufacturers and publishes their statistical profiles in this annual report, calculated 23,024 industrial workers in Auburn Hills from February 2011 to February 2012.
According to City Manager Pete Auger, Auburn Hills’ pro-business environment and continual efforts to pull from the area’s educated workforce contributes to its growth in industrial jobs. The City recently welcomed Teijen Advanced Composites America Inc., a developer of carbon fiber and carbon fiber-reinforced composites, and noted that the company chose Auburn Hills over locations in Ohio and Kentucky.

As Business Recruiter and Services Provider, the City of Auburn Hills Sees Both Sides of Michigan's Personal Property Tax Debate
Auburn Hills sees both sides of the debate on eliminating Michigan's personal property tax (PPT), which imposes a tax on the physical assets, such as equipment, computers and fixtures in commercial and industrial properties. As the hearings to consider the fate of the tax begin this week, City Manager Pete Auger admits to seeing both sides of the issue.
"We're an unusual city in Southeast Michigan in that we have an 80% commercial tax base and 20% residential. 20% of our city budget is based on the personal property tax we collect from business; that's a significant number to us."
